“The Future of the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine in the context of the EC Gas Market Liberalization”

On 03 June 2005, the EU-Ukraine Gas Conference “The Future of the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine in the context of the EC Gas Market Liberalization” took place in Kiev, Ukraine. The Conference was co-organized by “Naftogaz of Ukraine” NJSC and the European Commission Delegation to Ukraine in the framework of the official visit of Mr. Francois Lamoureux, General Director on Transport and Energy of the European Commission, to Ukraine.
The Conference was attended by over 120 participants - representatives of the European Commission, Governmental Bodies of CIS countries, Embassies of 15 countries, International Financial Institutions and the top management of gas companies from Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Spain, Switzerland and Ukraine.
During the Gas Conference the participants focused on presenting Ukraine's Gas Transportation System development strategy (i.e. industry reform policies, investment climate, achievements) and the status of Liberalization Process of the EU Gas Market. The Conference also provided an open forum discussion between all relevant key actors.
On 4 June 2005, the participants of the Conference visited the Eastern Europe Regional Natural Gas Metrology Center in Boyarka co-financed by the European Commission and Ukraine. The internationally certified Regional Metrology Center aims at providing state-of-the art calibration services for the gas transfers within the region and offers calibration services to other countries as well.
