and the 10th International Conference “Energy Security of Europe of the XXI Century, Euro-Asian Energy Corridors”
The 8th International Exhibition “Energy Forum “Ukraine – 2007” and the 10th International Conference "Energy Security of Europe in the XXI century. Euro-Asian Energy Corridors" took place in Kyiv on 30th May - 1st June, 2007. These two events were jointly organized by the high level governmental bodies in Ukraine such as the Parliamentary Committee on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety Matters, the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Coal Industry of Ukraine, the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, the National Agency of Ukraine on Ensuring of Efficient Energy Resources, the National JSC “Naftogas of Ukraine”, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the State Committee of Ukraine for Energy Conservation, the Kiev City State Administration, the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Ukrainian Oil-and-Gas Academy.
Over 100 participants attended both the international exhibition and international conference specialised seminars, presentations, and round-table discussions that were given by high-level officials from various private and public institutions. The Organizing Committee was co-chaired by Mr. Yuriy Boyko, Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine; Mr. Mykhailo Zgurovskiy, Chancellor of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”; and Mr. Boris Stogniy, academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician-secretary of Department of physic-technological problems in energy sector of Ukraine.
The exhibition and the conference aimed at forming a scientific basis for energy security for both Ukraine and Europe, considering the current world trends and driving forces, developing the energy security as a basis of the national and economic security of European countries, analysing the integration processes in the European energy sector, assessing the peculiarities of Ukraine’s integration into the European energy system, forming an energy-saving model for development of Ukrainian economy, supporting the state policy of structural-innovative renewal of the energy sector and modernisation of objects of the fuel-and-energy complex of Ukraine, modernizing the exising oil and gas transportation system of Ukraine, as well as broad attracting domestic and foreign investments into the Ukrainian energy sector.
In the course of the Conference, the INOGATE Secretariat gave a presentation briefing the participants on the “Baku Initiative”, the Astana Ministerial Conference, its main focuses, agreements and short-term priorities set up to the next Conference (scheduled on late 2008).
