Comp D: INOGATE Technical Assistance Mission in Ukraine
Objective
INOGATE experts on energy statistics conducted a technical assistance mission to Ukraine within the framework of implementation of the Energy Statistics Action Plan which was endorsed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the INOGATE Technical Secretariat and the State Statistics Service of Ukraine in July 2013.
From 7 to 9 October 2014, the technical assistance mission provided a number of meetings which brought together major stakeholders on energy statistics from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, the NERC, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving. These meetings were a vehicle to facilitate discussion on further improvement of the energy statistics system through increased division of labour and data sharing among different stakeholders. It also served to increase awareness about the importance of energy statistics in reliable energy planning.
The INOGATE Project assists Ukraine in developing its institutional frameworks for the collection, analysis and distribution of energy statistics in order to harmonise them with international standards, and to improve the methodologies applied in data collection and compilation of energy statistics. The importance of energy statistics in the development of energy balances, energy prices and energy efficiency indicators cannot be underestimated.Key Data
