Comp D: 1st Technical Assistance Mission to the Republic of Armenia to Implement Energy Statistics Action Plan
Objective
The main aim of the 1st ITS Technical Assistance Mission in Armenia was to officially initiate the implementation of the first phase of the Armenian Energy Statistics Action Plan (ESAP). The mission focused mostly on the activities related to the improvement of the existing system for energy data collection and compilation and the establishment of a proper organisational structure and institutional framework for energy statistics. The main stakeholders involved in energy statistics system are the National Statistics Service (NSS) and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR). The ESAP is a plan of integrated actions which aims to bring energy statistics in the Republic of Armenia in line with international standards. It was implemented between 2012 and 2014. The ESAP was adopted through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Statistical Cooperation, which was signed between the NSS, the MENR and the INOGATE Technical Secretariat (ITS) on 2nd July 2013. The MoU is based on the agreement on statistical co-operation and mutual implementation of specific activities defined in the ESAP.
