INOGATE Communication Workshop on Sustainable Energy – Georgia
Objective
The objectives of this workshop were to define the main direction of an awareness raising campaign for Georgia on sustainable energy, to identify contributing stakeholders and to identify potential actions for sustainable energy awareness projects.
ITS sought to reinforce existing initiatives for greater awareness of sustainable energy through media, internet, information centres, schools and other vehicles.
Participants worked in a series of small groups to brainstorm ideas such as wider use of rail transport, promotion of public transport, an education campaign, events about greener and healthier transport, more efficient vehicles, eco-driving, changes in legislation and standards, the involvement of local authorities and greater use of biofuel.
Participants identified two groups of stakeholders with different needs: policy makers must have greater awareness to improve the legal framework, and the wider public must create a demand for sustainable transport, improve understanding and foster behavioural change.
