Regulatory Implications of Energy Efficiency Policies
Objective
The programme will allow for the introduction of the EU’s energy and climate change policy and its diverse objectives Furthermore, it is to present the EU’s policy to overcome the energy efficiency barriers and the newly proposed energy efficiency directive. The programme is supposed to address case study presentations by practicing EU member energy regulators on tackling energy efficiency (EE) policies and measures and their specific roles in these policies. The workshop will entail presentations by select utilities (distribution and transmission companies) so that the Inogate Partner Country representatives can better understand the role of utilities in energy efficiency measures and the benefits of EE to consumers and utilities. The event will close with presentations and an open discussion on the potential barriers when implementing EE policies in transition countries and on the potentials for removing these barriers.
The programme will include a variety of formal presentations, case study presentations and discussions.
Participants
The workshop will involve Partner Countries of the INOGATE Programme and a variety of energy industry stakeholders: practicing energy regulators and ministry representatives involved in energy efficiency issues, representatives of relevant local energy efficiency centers, other NGOs involved in national energy efficiency policies, or local utilities representatives. Each Partner Country will be invited to delegate 4 representatives.
